Twistmallow needs no app account and has no ads. Cube saves and camera processing stay on your device. Optional usage summaries help us improve the app. Sharing stays off in every region unless you enable Share usage summaries in Options. A saved Off choice is preserved. There is no startup sharing question. You can turn sharing off at any time without losing features or progress. A troubleshooting report is shared separately, only when you choose to send it.
1. Who is responsible
Vladimir Druts operates Pocket Renaissance in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and is responsible for the information we handle. Contact pocketrenaissancestudio@gmail.com with “Privacy request” in the subject for questions, access requests or complaints.
2. Information in Twistmallow
Progress and preferences. The app saves cube state, turn history, lesson position, progress, settings and recovery copies locally on your device. We do not receive these saves automatically. If you export a save, the destination you choose controls that copy. Device backups may also contain app data.
Camera scanning. Scanning is part of the paid full unlock. If you choose to scan and grant camera permission, images are processed on your device to read cube colors. We do not upload or save photos or video from scanning. A confirmed cube and the colors used for its follow-along guide can become part of your local save. The scanner does not request microphone access.
Voice guidance. The default guide uses prerecorded audio included with the native app. Optional device voices are supplied by your device or speech provider. Depending on the voice and device, that provider may process speech requests online under its own terms. We do not send scan images or personal messages to an AI voice-generation service.
Local diagnostics. The app keeps a bounded troubleshooting history of up to 200 recent technical and activity events on your device, such as lesson starts or retries, scan outcomes and fixed error categories. A report includes basic app and device-category information. It does not contain screenshots, camera images, recordings, cube contents, names, payment details or free-form error messages. You can preview the report in Options before choosing whether and where to share it. We receive it only if you send it to us. Apple or Google may separately provide platform or beta-testing reports according to your settings and their terms.
3. Optional usage sharing
Usage sharing helps us improve Twistmallow: understand feature use, difficult lesson phases, repeated attempts, time spent in different parts of the app and whether people return. Sharing is optional. In Options → Privacy & diagnostics, the Share usage summaries switch lets you turn sharing on or off. An explicit Off choice always takes priority. Declining or stopping does not change your features, cube or progress. Earlier preview versions without this feature do not send optional usage summaries.
Sharing starts by your choice. Automatic regional sharing is disabled in every region for this launch. If you have not saved a sharing choice, optional usage measurement stays off until you enable Share usage summaries in Options → Privacy & diagnostics. A saved On choice allows sharing; a saved Off choice remains off. The app may ask our provider for the approximate country of the current internet connection when checking the setting. We do not request GPS access or add a country to usage summaries. A network country can be affected by travel or a VPN; it is not proof of residence. There is no startup sharing question.
When sharing is on, the app prepares limited summaries: feature exposure and use counts; lesson, stage and phase visits; starts, completions, exits, retries and hints; scan correction or failure categories; purchase or restore outcomes; short transitions and repeated loops; and approximate usage-duration estimates, with playback counted separately. In version 2.7, duration estimates may include time while the app is in the background and should not be treated as precise foreground measurements. These estimates do not establish what someone is paying attention to. We use the resulting statistics to improve the app, not to target people with advertising or individual offers.
Summaries include the app version and reporting day. Return counts cover use on days 1, 7 and 30 after measured enrollment, grouped by enrollment week, app version, first feature and whether access was free, unlocked or not yet known. Enrollment and return checks happen locally; we do not receive a full ordered session history.
Each submitted summary has a random batch reference for reliable delivery and recent-data removal. We do not attach an app account, advertising identifier or permanent installation identifier. Summary payloads contain no camera images, recordings, cube contents, contact details or payment receipts. Limited summaries can still be information about device activity; we do not describe them as automatically anonymous.
Hosting and connection information. We use Netlify to receive, store and process these summaries in the United States, in its us-east-2 region. Netlify also processes connection information such as IP addresses, browser or device request information, access times and security events to deliver and protect the service. Our summary payloads do not include IP addresses, but that does not prevent provider request logging. These operational records have separate provider retention practices; the summary-retention periods below are not a promise about every provider log.
Local queue and recent-data controls. Unsent summaries are bounded and can be retried for up to seven days. Stopping sharing cancels delivery and clears unsent usage history; it cannot recall a request already received. The app keeps limited batch-removal receipts on the device so you can separately choose to delete recent shared summaries. Expired receipts are cleared during later uploads using a nine-day attempt window. If sharing is stopped, receipts can remain locally until used for removal or app data is removed. Removing app data can remove the receipts needed for this control.
Server retention. Individual received summaries become eligible for combination into broader statistics on the next UTC calendar day. An hourly cleanup job combines them and removes the individual measurement details. A failed run or backlog can delay this. Limited batch references and verification hashes, without those measurement details, remain eligible for retry handling for eight UTC calendar days after receipt. Combined statistics become eligible for removal 365 days after the original receipt date. Our reports suppress small groups and round totals; these safeguards do not guarantee anonymity.
Stopping and deleting. Open Options → Privacy & diagnostics and turn off Share usage summaries to stop sharing. Open What is shared & data controls there for details or the separate option to delete recent shared data and stop sharing. Recent-data removal uses the receipts held by that device and may need another attempt if you are offline or cleanup is in progress. Statistics already combined across devices cannot be separated back into an individual contribution through this control and may remain until their retention period ends. Your cube, lesson progress and local diagnostic history are kept. Contact us for other applicable privacy requests.
4. Website visits and cookies
This informational site is hosted through OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare. Delivering and protecting it involves request information such as IP address, browser/device information, requested page, access time and error or security events. Hosting providers may retain operational logs and use necessary security mechanisms under their service terms.
We have not added advertising, visitor profiling, marketing analytics, newsletter tracking or optional tracking cookies to this site. Fonts, images and video are served with the site rather than embedded from social-media or video platforms. Following an external link takes you to a service with its own practices.
A separately offered password-protected browser beta uses a necessary access cookie lasting up to seven days. Its saves stay in that browser, and its host receives ordinary web requests. This public site does not require that beta password.
5. When you contact us
We receive the email address, message and attachments you send. Gmail, provided by Google, processes that correspondence. We use it to address questions, investigate issues, handle privacy or purchase requests and keep appropriate records. We do not add support contacts to a marketing list.
Please send only information relevant to the issue. Do not send passwords, full payment-card details, identity documents or unnecessary information about a child. We may request limited verification before disclosing or changing personal information.
6. Purchases and stores
Twistmallow is free to download, with a US$5.99 one-time full unlock and no subscription. The store shows the applicable local price and purchase conditions before payment. Apple or Google processes purchases billed through its store under its own terms; we do not receive full payment-card details.
The app checks ownership with the supported store to unlock paid features, restore purchases and reflect approved, pending, canceled or refunded transactions. This does not require a Pocket Renaissance app account. Store transaction and account information is handled under the store’s privacy terms. Optional usage summaries include limited outcome counts and access status, not payment receipts. We may receive an order reference if you send it for a purchase inquiry.
7. Why we use information and who receives it
We use the information described above to provide the app or requested assistance, improve the app through optional usage statistics, protect services, troubleshoot problems, meet legal obligations and resolve disputes. Where a lawful basis is required, this may be a requested service or contract, a legal obligation, consent, or legitimate interests balanced against your rights. For optional usage sharing, you choose whether to enable it in Options, and you can turn it off at any time. Automatic regional sharing is disabled for this launch. Support and service security have their own legitimate purposes. A privacy notice does not replace consent where consent is required.
Access is limited to the operator and providers needed for these purposes, or advisers subject to appropriate confidentiality. We may disclose information when legally required or reasonably necessary to protect people, rights or service security, subject to applicable law. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Netlify, Google, OpenAI, Cloudflare, app stores and device-service providers may process information in the United States, Canada or other countries. Foreign laws can permit access by authorities. We use available contractual and security protections appropriate to our services; we do not promise Canada-only storage.
8. Other retention and security
Local app saves remain until removed from the device or browser, subject to backups and exports. New diagnostic entries replace older ones when the local limit is reached; there is no promised time-based expiry for that local report. Usage-summary retention is described above.
We retain correspondence and reports you send only as long as reasonably needed to handle the issue, meet legal obligations and address disputes. We review retained information and remove or de-identify it when no longer needed. Relevant records may be kept longer for a legal obligation or unresolved claim; backup copies may persist until their normal replacement. Hosting and email providers have their own operational retention practices.
We use reasonable access and account safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. No system can guarantee absolute security. We assess reported incidents and notify affected people or authorities where required.
9. Your choices and rights
You can stop optional usage sharing, request recent-data removal from the app, deny or revoke camera permission, choose whether to use voice guidance and decide whether to send a report or correspondence. Removing app data can erase progress; keep any export you need first. Uninstalling or clearing browser data does not remove information already sent, device backups, exports or emails.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or obtain a portable copy of information, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. Contact us to exercise an applicable right. We explain any lawful exception or verification needed and respond within the applicable legal deadline; ordinary support-response targets do not extend it.
You may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your local data-protection authority. Contacting us first is not a condition of your legal rights.
10. Children and families
Twistmallow is for a general audience, including families. It does not ask for a name, email, birthdate, profile or chat message. Parents or guardians should make optional sharing choices for a child and handle purchasing decisions and correspondence. Please do not ask a child to email personal details.
We do not knowingly solicit a child’s personal contact information. If you believe a child has sent information that should not be retained, contact us so we can investigate and address it. We obtain parental consent where required for processing that needs it.
11. Changes
We update the effective date when this policy changes and give additional notice or request consent where required. Material new processing will be described before it begins. This policy does not waive privacy or consumer rights.
